An Elegant Rehearsal Dinner + Festive After Party

April 20th, 2015

We L-O-V-E what this fun-loving couple did for their rehearsal dinner in their college town of Wake Forest…Matt’s parents threw them a lovely formal rehearsal dinner complete with cascading flower arrangements, custom EOH details, and bubbly for toasting! What followed was a more playful, laid back party full of bluegrass, twinkling lights, and signature cocktails. We adored how guests were able to see both sides of the family & couple reflected in two very different styles of parties…all in one delightful evening of celebration!

See how Mark Potter Photography captured the day…

The mother of the groom chose a stately gold foil invitation for the black and gold rehearsal dinner. The family crest crowned the top of this elegant paper for a personal + significant touch. Find more elegant EOH rehearsal dinner paper on our site!

Here, the family crest motif is seen again on these custom cocktail napkins. We adore when clients use their invitations as a springboard for other decor details throughout the event.

Following an absolutely lovely evening of feasting + toasting, guests made their way to a Southern get-together reflective of the groom’s Nashville upbringing. This gathering featured some of the couple’s favorite foods like sliders, fries, ice cream and college themed cocktails. Guests snacked, chatted, and tapped their feet to local bluegrass melodies all night long.

Check out this whimsical invite decked out in their college colors! See more invitations here.

Congratulations to this dear couple, Matt & Susan! And thanks again to the talented Mark Potter Photography for letting us share these special shots.

Romantic Whimsical Wedding

April 1st, 2015

After putting this post together, we are ready for spring around EOH! Scroll through this truly delightful day to see the warm weather beauty & outdoor fun captured by Haley George Photography!

The (Happy!) Couple’s Names: Hillary and Griffin Bonham

Wedding Date: July 5, 2014

Location: Nashville, Tennessee

(Shop the “Holly” Wedding Paper Suite here!)

Tell us “your story.” Griffin and I met in the Fall of 2011 when I moved up to Washington, DC. We served our church’s youth group alongside each other for two years before Griffin asked me out…and it has been an incredible adventure since then!

Griffin and I love full days of spontaneity and fun. December 14, 2013 was no different. We had a great breakfast, got library cards at the Library of Congress and then drove to Old Town to walk around one of our favorite spots- the Torpedo Art Factory. I absolutely love photography, and Griffin, knowing this, coordinated with one of the photographers to hang pictures of him holding chalkboard signs saying “Will You Marry Me?” After a moment of sweet surprise, Griffin got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said, “Of course I will!”

Describe your wedding in 3 words. Whimsical. Romantic. Fun.

We love your style! Tell us a little bit about your aesthetic… My favorite word is whimsy. Since I love bright colors and natural beauty, we dreamed of a colorful garden wedding with romantic flowers throughout. My motto was: “The more color, the better.” One of my biggest influences ended up being Bayley Smith at Big Events, Inc., who has an amazing eye for creativity and loveliness.

What was your very favorite detail from the day? I loved the beautiful flowers that lined the aisle making it feel so unique and special.

One thing you wish you would’ve know before you started wedding planning… To enjoy every second!

Tell us why you love EOH custom paper lovelies! I love Emily’s elegant and whimsical influences that make her papers so gorgeous!

Thanks for sharing your lovely day with us, Hillary!

A Chic Beachfront Bash

January 26th, 2015

This simply glamorous wedding has us wishing for a winter vacay! Caitlin is a long-time, dear friend of the EOH team…So we are thrilled to feature her chic wedding that unfolded at Rosemary Beach. Thanks to Lauren Kinsey for these breathtaking photos from this seaside event!

The (Happy!) Couple’s Names: Ted & Caitlin Heinig

Wedding Date: 9.6.14

Location: Rosemary Beach, FL

Tell us “your story” in a few sentences. Ted and I became friends after one of my best girlfriends introduced us… She was working with Ted in Knoxville at AC Entertainment. But it wasn’t until after I decided to move back to Nashville that Ted made his move. He says it was because he couldn’t let me get away : ) We went out a few times and I realized right away that this would be a short “move” to Nashville. Six months later, I moved back to Knoxville and we were engaged the following December- exactly 2 years (and in the same place) after our first date.

Pick three words you would use to describe your wedding. Natural. Simple. Chic.

We love your style! Tell us a little bit about your aesthetic… Since our venue (with a beach view!) was already so gorgeous, it was really important to me that we worked with the space rather than competing with it. We were lucky to have lush green surroundings, cobblestone streets, a dreamy beachfront view, and the glam black and white Pearl hotel.

I went with all neutral colors in order to highlight the existing beauty (and I wanted to stay far away from the cliché pastel colors you often find at beach events!) I got some funny looks when vendors would ask what my colors were and I would respond strongly, “NO color!” I was set on this very sophisticated, but simple style.

What was your very favorite detail from the day? My bouquet…It was amazing! Orchids are my favorite and Jim Knestrick created the most beautiful organic and sleek looking bouquet. I would walk around with it every day if I could!

Since I can’t just follow the rules and pick one! My favorite happening was the song Natalie and Cameron (Ted’s girls) wrote/preformed at the reception… with lines like, “Don’t stop don’t stop believing, dad you’ve found the perfect girl!” It was such a sweet moment and they killed it on the stage!

One thing you wish you would’ve known before you started wedding planning…It’s almost impossible not to get stressed out of your mind, even if you think you are a laid back person! Plus, I don’t think we were prepared for the time commitment it took to plan. Wedding planning kind of takes over ALL of your free time…but it was well worth it!

Tell us why you love EOH custom paper lovelies! Oh goodness! What’s not to love? I couldn’t have been happier with what she created for us. Our wedding invitation was the perfect mix of classic and modern, just what we wanted. Emily can always create the thing you visualize in your mind (but can’t explain) and make it even lovelier than you imagined!
