A Wedding Like Spring

September 15th, 2016

Creating a timeless aesthetic with subtle touches of magic and sparkle isn’t an easy feat– but Courtney and Noah’s April wedding managed to do exactly this (and exceedingly well, for that matter). With soft neutrals, lots of greenery, and an intimate outdoor ceremony, this bubbly couple marked the beginning of their own new season alongside family and friends. If a picture is worth a thousand words, there isn’t nearly enough space to articulate the pure joy captured from this day! Like the coming of spring, weddings bring about hope and new beginnings. Courtney and Noah’s special day radiated warmth and light at the end of the winter season, with just enough sweetness to make you hold close the ones you love.

Tell us “your story” in a few sentences.

We met on Christian Mingle in 2014 and dated about 5 months before Noah called it quits because he was scared of marriage and I was… well… ready. Two and half months later, on my 26th birthday, Noah had this revelation from God that, “Oh my goodness… that’s my wife.” And he began pursuing me again, this time with determination that he was going to marry me. We got engaged in October of 2015 and married the following April.

Fun, joyful, party!

We chose to feature your wedding, which means we love your style! Tell us a little bit about your wedding aesthetics (colors, inspiration, personal style, etc).

I knew I wanted a lot of neutrals mixed with a bit of rustic glam. I had my bridesmaids choose their own neutral, floor-length gowns and just asked that they each have a bit of sparkle somewhere. Our flowers were soft pink and white with lots of greenery.

For the reception, I wanted to have long, farmhouse tables with simple and elegant décor on them. So we used only eucalyptus, these beautiful gold candlesticks, and floating candles to line the tables. It sounds weird, but my ideal party is Bilbo Baggins’ birthday party in Lord of the Rings… and I wanted my wedding to feel a bit like that, but way more elegant. That meant a combination of everyone feeling right at home, having an absolute blast, mixed with very classy, timeless elements. We wanted everyone to feel comfortable, eat a ton, and dance the night away. And that’s exactly what happened!

What was your favorite detail from the day?

My first look with my dad was one of my favorite moments. We’ve always had a very special relationship and his reaction was something I’ll never forget.

And that feeling walking down that aisle to Noah and us seeing each other eye to eye for the first time was so surreal. I have never felt that overwhelmed with joy and excitement.

Also, our food was freakin’ fantastic.

What’s one thing you wish you would have known before you started wedding planning?

Make time for normal life aside from wedding planning during engagement.

Tell us why you love EOH custom paper lovelies!

Emily was able to capture EXACTLY what I wanted in our wedding invitations. Elegant, timeless and classic. Seriously loved everything she came up with!

Catherine and Andy Hebert

July 21st, 2016

We love a good winter wedding. There’s something elegant about the hope of snow and bare landscape that creates a fresh canvas for a wedding day. And, when you get married in your hometown, you know the places and people will make that canvas come alive. Our Featured Bride, Catherine [Godwin] Hébert, a Nashville native and lover of all things lovely, started her planning process with a variety of colors, visions, and ideas. With the help of other talented hands and minds (ahem, Linley Stokes), she was able to design a winter wedding wonderland.

Tell us “your story” in a few sentences.

Andy and I met at Auburn University through RUF campus ministry. After a year of friendship, we decided to give dating a try. We had our time doing long-distance, which helped solidify our relationship. We dated for 2 and a half years before getting engaged! We are currently living in Nashville and enjoying being newlyweds!

We wanted to embrace the natural aspects of winter, so we went with an organic color palette: gray, green, light blue, blush and ivory. But, because it was the day after New Year’s Day we added some pops of metallic to give it a fun and festive feel.

The flowers and décor played an important part in all this to capture the warmth and wintry feel. Knestrick by Design really helped solidify the look on the day of. The flowers, greenery and candles blew me away. They even made these hanging orbs out of ivy that look like natural chandeliers.

What was your very favorite detail from the day?

I love the watercolor crest EOH created for Andy and me! It is stunning! We used it on the invites, programs, and on lots of items at the reception. It is something we will keep forever.

One thing you wish you would’ve know before you started wedding planning…

Everything feels so important during the process, but once it is finished you see that certain things are not worth stressing over. It’s most important to enjoy the day. To help with that, I would definitely recommend hiring good vendors. They help you navigate through the wedding world. I was more relaxed knowing that I could trust Emily and Linley [Stokes] (my amazing wedding planner), along with my other vendors, to embrace my vision and help make the day perfect.

Tell us why you love EOH custom paper lovelies!

I love everything about EOH! Emily helped me understand what I wanted for my day. I came to her with a million paint swatches for the color palette and far too many Pinterest ideas. She helped me sort through the chaos and create a vision for the save-the-dates, invitations and the crest. She allowed me to create alongside her. It was the perfect creative partnership. She’s my go-to girl for anything paper related!

Anything else you’d like to tell us?! We’d love to hear!

Emily will do an amazing job on your wedding suite (or any other paper need you may have), but she will bless you even more with her refreshing perspective on life. She knows that weddings are a great celebration, but she helped me stay centered on the reality that it is just the start of marriage. It was a breath of fresh air to work with her during wedding planning craziness!

I have known Catherine (or Catty, as people call her) since she was 13, and oh what a sweet place she has in my heart! She has quite literally grown up in front of me, and I could not be more proud of the life she’s led and the man she chose to marry. Catty is and always has been filled with grace, kindness, and humility that is inspiring to me. Working with her on her wedding was fun not only because she has lovely taste, but also because I got to walk with her as she prepared to start her new life. Thank you for your years of friendship, Catty!

Black + White Beach Wedding

April 15th, 2016

With spring rapidly approaching and beach vacations on the way, we were so excited to feature Sara and Steven’s beautiful, classic black + white Rosemary Beach wedding! One of our favorite spots (for weddings and vacation!), Rosemary Beach makes the perfect backdrop to a perfectly gorgeous day. With help from wedding planner, Denise Sikes and Sara’s mother, all details—black, white, cream, acrylic, and gold—came together in the most timeless, romantic way.

Tell us “your story.’ We met out in Midtown at Rebar. Steven was living in Atlanta at the time, and I was living in Nashville. We dated long distance for about nine months. Traveling back and forth from Nashville to Atlanta and vice versa every chance we got. After dating for nine months we knew we would get married so I moved to Atlanta to be with Steven.

We love your style! Tell us a little bit about your aesthetic… My style is classic. I love black, white and gold. These colors inspired the look for our wedding. I wanted to mainly use white and black with a touch of gold and a hint of blush. We used all white roses in the centerpieces, bouquets and boutonnieres. I think a lot of one thing is so much more powerful than all different things mixed together. I also like a hint of modern elements in my style to add clean lines and interest. This is why we used ghost chairs and acrylic light fixtures to accent our long head table. Lastly I love adding the feel of romance with lighting. My awesome planners and mother came up with the idea of using lit mercury glass orbs of different sizes throughout the rooms on every table to add a romantic glow. The orbs with the addition of votives made the room glow with romance. It was truly my dream come true.

Rod-12 Rod-16 Rod-17 Rod-13 Rod-26

What was your very favorite detail from the day? This is a really hard question. There are so many details I loved. Some of these include the seated dinner, the bandanas at the reception in honor of my dad, my husband surprising me with our first dance song, needlepointing Steven’s cummerbund, having all my nephews and my niece in the ceremony, my brother walking my down the aisle, glow rings at the dinner tables and having bagpipes play for our entrance and exit. We really tried to do a lot of personal touches throughout the wedding to make it more meaningful for us and our guests.

One thing you wish you would’ve know before you started wedding planning…Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Tell us why you love EOH custom paper lovelies! Emily is so creative and talented. She is easy to work with and really listened to what we were wanting. The many invitations and paper products we used for our wedding always exceeded my expectations. I never felt like I had already seen something just like it. She truly customizes to her clients. And on top of all of this, she is local and I love supporting Nashville businesses.

Rod-28 Rod-29 Rod-30

Anything else you’d like to tell us?! We’d love to hear! Everyone always says your wedding is the best day of your life up to that point. It truly is such a magnificent day. To get married with family and friends surrounding and supporting you is so special.

Rod-25

EOH would like to thank Sara (the timeless bride), Missy (the MOB), and Denise Sikes (wedding planner!) for allowing us to be apart of this exquisite day! It was a joy to work with these three ladies from day one! When you meet with a mother/daughter duo, you automatically can get a sense of their relationship, for better or worse. This one can be described as full of LOVE. There was so much support in the room, and you could tell the family was each others stronghold. It was a tangible, steady, and sweet love.  They wanted this wedding to be classic, timeless party and a celebration of love and family! Mission very well accomplished! We loved being tiny apart of your day. Thank you again!
