Shabby Chic Barn Wedding | Vintage Wedding Invitations

November 25th, 2013

The (Happy!) Couple’s Names: Wes and Margaret Pedicini

Wedding Date: May 19, 2012

Location: Loveless Barn, Nashville TN

Tell us “your story” in a few sentences. We first met in 2004 at Christ Presbyterian Academy…My senior year, we ended up in a ballroom dance class together. This is how we really “met.” We really connected after a few discussions about our passion for missions and adoption. (Ask about our first date, if you want a good laugh!) We’ve had many adventures together, from a summer in Cape Town, to college at the same school, to exploring Spain, to starting Wes’ journey through medical school. The rest… is history!

Pick three words you would use to describe your wedding. Vintage, barn, shabby-chic

We love your style! Tell us a little bit about your aesthetic. My style is very eclectic. I am an Anthropologie girl through and through, but I love being able to repurpose vintage accessories, house décor, and furniture and make them my own (because let’s face it, as much as I love Anthro, I can’t always afford it!). I wanted the wedding to feel warm, inviting, and for the colors to be cheerful without being overly bright.

I gained my original inspiration for the color palette from a few vintage handkerchiefs I had that were my grandmother’s, and knew immediately I wanted to somehow incorporate the pale greens, peachy pinks, and pops of other spring colors into the décor. Little did I know the hankies themselves would be incorporated too!

I’m not what you would call matchy- matchy, and I think that shows in the bridesmaids’ different colored shoes, the handkerchief table overlays, spring garden flowers, and the barrettes I wore in my hair. During our engagement, Wes and I spent six months apart studying abroad. I was in Uganda, and the many colors of the market inspired me as well…after the first paper bead necklace I saw, I knew that was going to be the bridesmaid jewelry. I found a craftsman to hand carve a pair of elephants for me, and I made those our cake toppers. Those were very personal touches!

What was your very favorite detail from the day? The handkerchief banner and handkerchief table overlays were really special to me because it was something my Mom and I did together. Now that we’re married, I’ve taken some of the overlays apart and turned them into a wall piece in our living room, and a appliquéd a few onto throw pillows too. It’s like a little piece of our wedding in our home.

Can I cheat and have two? I worked at Las Paletas during college, and the owners, who are sisters, were very dear to Wes and me. As a wedding gift, they provided paletas for our wedding guests in our favorite flavors. It was such a fun treat during the transition from ceremony reception, and it was hilarious to watch the owners (who were wedding guests) see other guests discover their delectable product for the first time.

One thing you wish you would’ve known before you started wedding planning…I wish I had known the hardest part of all would be finding my dress! #3 was the charm: I found it after 4 months and going to 5 other dress appointments. I’m glad my mom helped me be patient and take my time though!

Tell us why you love EOH custom paper lovelies! I love how well EOH can customize to your vision for your wedding. I loved meeting with Emily and looking at all of her samples, and being able to draw from several templates, and mix and match until we came up with something that looked just like me, and in that “vintage shabby chic” vein. EOH is so great to work with, because it is gorgeous product that’s affordable and unique. I couldn’t have asked for better save the dates, invitations, or wedding thank you’s!

Anything else you’d like to tell us?! Love you all! If I could do our wedding all over again just to pick out paper lovelies, I would. I guess I just need to have another party!
