• Southern Etiquette: Invitation Mailing Timeline

    March 3rd, 2014

It can be tough to know exactly the best time to send out all the invitations and RSVPs that flow out of your mailbox during wedding season. We’ve made it easy to remember with this simple timeline below. Catch EOH‘s southern wedding etiquette guide…

Save-the-dates are an opportunity to really show off your personality on paper! Since these go out 6-8 months prior to the wedding, they can be more informal and fun…something to get guests excited about your big day!

When sending off your gorgeous wedding invitation suite, 6-8 weeks is usually plenty of time. This way far away friends and family can clear their schedules and plan to travel so they don’t miss out on any of the festivities!

Rehearsal dinner invitations need about 3-6 weeks in advance. This is another place the EOH team loves to bring something a little different to your paper design. Branch out from your wedding color scheme or add some more playful design.

We suggest that you ask for guests to RSVP 2-3 weeks prior to your wedding date. This is helpful for everyone from the caterer to the florist. Give vendors a final number and lock in your seating chart once you have the final count!

Whether you’re hosting a bridesmaids luncheon or a best friend’s birthday party, the same rule applies. It’s standard to mail pretty party invitations 4-6 weeks before the event. This gives everyone time to plan for stress-free celebrating!
