In Good Co. | Venue Owner Leigh Watson

April 14th, 2015

We have the privilege of getting to walk alongside some inspiring, growing, and dynamic creatives as we navigate the small biz world as creators ourselves. In our new blog column, In Good Co., we want to feature some of these artists and share a little of the story behind their craft, how they create their work, and what makes them tick as artists.

Today we are showing you a little behind the scenes look with Leigh Watson – the creative lady who (along with 2 best friends) renovated, redesigned, and opened an event space in Nashville called The Cordelle. You may recognize this venue as the gorgeous backdrop of a past EOH post on our Night of Fun + Fashion or from the many beautiful weddings hosted and seen on blogs and Insta everywhere! We can’t say enough about the talented trio that dreamed up (& now runs!) The Cordelle, but we will let Leigh speak for their team…What’s your story?

The owners of The Cordelle are 3 long-time friends who shared a vision of returning to the south (after years of travel and exploration) to be closer to their families and their roots. We are all creatives, two musicians and a filmmaker, who chose to refocus our inspirations and create our idea of the perfect event venue. What’s your craft?

The idea sprang from one of the partners looking for a wedding venue in downtown Nashville, with little to no availability and bookings at most venues over a year out we saw a true need for more event spaces in town. We are inspired everyday when sharing our story with clients who appreciate our style and design choices, but The Cordelle is really meant to be a stage for our clients own personalized creativity.Where do you find inspiration?

Travel and the arts! We are all seasoned travelers and trips at home and abroad always create a major rush of inspiration and new ideas. It is truly rewarding bringing art, fashion, and music back home to share with friends and family. Since our opening in Nashville, we have been inspired by our creative peers and craftsman here in the south. Holler Design and Good Wood Nashville are a few of the talented folks who helped us make The Cordelle a truly unique event space. They have really inspired us with their creativity and passion for their craft!!What’s your very favorite piece from the EOH paper line?

EOH has worked with us on several projects to date, but personally I love the “VARIETY PACK”! I’m always in need of a perfect “Thank You” or “Birthday” card and having a variety pack on hand means I’m always prepared! P.S. Fun Fact- Leigh had her very own wedding at The Cordelle…See photos from her big day on the Green Wedding Shoes blog!Thank you for sharing the story behind your dream, Leigh! We’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with The Cordelle team for multiple events & they come highly recommended by EOH!! Throw a Simple + Thoughtful Baby Shower!

April 8th, 2015

Spring is a season full of celebrations & showers…from babies and birthdays to weddings and graduations, there is always a party right around the corner! Hosting a baby shower?! You’re in luck- We’ve handpicked our favorite pieces for an easy (gender-neutral!) spring baby shower. Inspired by the changing landscape, go with a natural color palette full of greens and neutrals + bright accents of gold! Shop our picks below…

* Here at EOH, we believe the invitation is the perfect place to start! Set a tone for the event’s style & give guests a clue of what’s to come (from the minute they open their mailbox!). We got inspired by this spring green invite that features a modern dot background paired with a darling floral garland illustration. After we picked out this pretty paper, we knew we wanted to move in the direction of simple + modern, yet thoughtful + cute. Emily O. Holmes Custom Lovelies has a large line of ready-to-order baby shower invitations!

* We love this gorgeous gold (yet grown-up!) menagerie by Dwell Studio. It can double as a centerpiece at the party and nursery decor after the fact.

* Let guests know the celebration has begun with these (absolutely adorable!) confetti push-pops from Thimblepress. We loved this metallic look, but they make a variety of color selections (…even blue & pink for a gender reveal party!).

* Bring all this gorgeous green inside with a classic boxwood wreath like this affordable option by Smith & Hawken. Attach the first letter of the new baby’s name and hang over a mirror…or lay flat as a centerpiece and fill with cream & gold candles.

* We adore this vintage-style letter banner you can use to spell out the baby’s future name! (Keeping the baby’s name a secret?! Use their last name instead & spell out “Baby ___”) Send this home with the mama-to-be as a gift to be used in the nursery later.

* How perfectly playful are these metallic gold party hats?! Add an element of fun by placing these hats in the center of each dinner plate or stringing them about the space…(or let any of the children present don this celebratory crown!).

*  Food doesn’t have to be fancy to feel elegant…Host a wine + cheese shower! Pile this chic wood + marble cheese board high with fruits, nuts, meats, and cheeses for a sophisticated (& super easy) party snack.

* Echo the confetti push-pops with these happy dotted napkins. The scattered gold spots add a touch of whimsy while the thick cream cotton feels refined. Plus, these would be a great set to add to your linen collection!

* Finish off the table decor with these scalloped heart coasters at each place setting. The sweet heart is a thoughtful touch as you celebrate the new little love coming into the world!

Welcome Spring & Happy Celebration Season from the Team at EOH!

Romantic Whimsical Wedding

April 1st, 2015

After putting this post together, we are ready for spring around EOH! Scroll through this truly delightful day to see the warm weather beauty & outdoor fun captured by Haley George Photography!

The (Happy!) Couple’s Names: Hillary and Griffin Bonham

Wedding Date: July 5, 2014

Location: Nashville, Tennessee

(Shop the “Holly” Wedding Paper Suite here!)

Tell us “your story.” Griffin and I met in the Fall of 2011 when I moved up to Washington, DC. We served our church’s youth group alongside each other for two years before Griffin asked me out…and it has been an incredible adventure since then!

Griffin and I love full days of spontaneity and fun. December 14, 2013 was no different. We had a great breakfast, got library cards at the Library of Congress and then drove to Old Town to walk around one of our favorite spots- the Torpedo Art Factory. I absolutely love photography, and Griffin, knowing this, coordinated with one of the photographers to hang pictures of him holding chalkboard signs saying “Will You Marry Me?” After a moment of sweet surprise, Griffin got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said, “Of course I will!”

Describe your wedding in 3 words. Whimsical. Romantic. Fun.

We love your style! Tell us a little bit about your aesthetic… My favorite word is whimsy. Since I love bright colors and natural beauty, we dreamed of a colorful garden wedding with romantic flowers throughout. My motto was: “The more color, the better.” One of my biggest influences ended up being Bayley Smith at Big Events, Inc., who has an amazing eye for creativity and loveliness.

What was your very favorite detail from the day? I loved the beautiful flowers that lined the aisle making it feel so unique and special.

One thing you wish you would’ve know before you started wedding planning… To enjoy every second!

Tell us why you love EOH custom paper lovelies! I love Emily’s elegant and whimsical influences that make her papers so gorgeous!

Thanks for sharing your lovely day with us, Hillary!
